HEALTHY LIVING, STAYING MOTIVATED
The best gift you can give yourself is the decision to live healthy. Eating well, exercising, drinking a lot of fluids, living a stress-free life, quitting unhealthy habits such as smoking, binge drinking to mention a few will prolong your life.
EATING WELL
Plan your meals. Ensure you have adequate amounts of calories, protein, fibre, vitamins and minerals and healthy fats. Eat regularly, try and eat at breakfast, lunch and evening meal. Stop eating when you are full. Include starches in your meal such as cereals, and starchy vegetables such as plantains, yams, cocoyams, and potatoes. try to have whole varieties of these since they are high in fibre. Do limit the intake of sugar and refined carbohydrates. they tend to be high in calories and lower in micronutrients. Do not fill more than a third of your plate with your starches.
Include vegetables in all your main meals, vegetables and fruits are a good source of fibre and are a healthy option for snacks. fill at least a third of your plate with these.
Include adequate amount of proteins in your diet. Proteins are necessary for growth and to maintain and repair the body. Include fish, chicken, meat, eggs, snails, as well as beans, lentils and nut. have them in at least two meals in a day.
A lot of fluids. It is important to stay hydrated through out the day. Drink some water, juice, soup or milk to stay hydrated.
STAY ACTIVE
it is important to keep active through out the day. An average of about 150min a week of activity such as jogging, running, walking, aerobics or swimming will help you loss some weight or maintain a healthy weight.
Build a network of health conscious people to encourage each other to live a healthy lifestyle. Join or start a football team join a keep fit club or take dancing lessons.
